Compfrontations is what I like to call my work because by lookin at my compositions, there is a confrontations between the viewers feeling and my work.
I like to paint mostly non figurative abstract images but in the past few years I have to develop and explore a few figurative series, like the cow portraits and the beau-mecs…(big hunks)
most of my ideas I get from looking at nature, surfing the Internet, reading magazines&books. I try to express the feeling I get from all those things, using colors.
Most often I paint that have been used, like old magazine photographs, empty carton boxes, plastic/cloth lamella's and rusty metal plates, I have also painted on tree trunks I found in the forrest and other natural found objects.
Music is an inported factor when I work, without it, I can't work the way I do, favorites I use during my work range from classical Bach, Brahms and Mozart to Popular recordings by Sting LoreenaMcKennit, Alice, NatashaSt.Pier to name a few.
Since 2000 I also make sculptures, I make the original wax model in my studio in Rotterdam and then they are bronzed near Toulouse, France. The first bronze sculpture I made was a cow, ”La Cou#1” next the ”Beau-mec en Jeans”, ”La Religeuse, Hommage à Pablo” and most recently the ”Beau-mec assis”.
